Luis Enrique: "Playing like that nobody would have won"

Jaume Marcet (special correspondent)

Barça B manager Luis Enrique Martínez and his players think it was the right decision to postpone the Betis v Barça B match.

Although it is a nuisance for Barça B to have gone to Seville for nothing, the players fully supported the referee’s decision . "It was a special game for us, but we would rather play on a suitable pitch and we’ll be delighted to come back another time", said Luis Enrique to the media.

No drainage
The Benito Villamarín pitch was replanted just two weeks ago, but the rain over the last three days has not drained properly. “Playing like that nobody would have won” said Luis Enrique.

Best solution
Midfielder Jonathan dos Santos explained "we were thrilled to be playing, I don’t know when we’ll play it now, but I hope it’s soon and we’ll be here all the same". Víctor Vázquez confirmed that "the ball would bounce or roll, the postponement was the best idea”. Goalkeeper Jordi Masip said he was furious because he was in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven of Masip, Montoya, Bartra, Fontàs, Muniesa, Romeu, Dos Santos, Carmona, Tello, Nolito and Rochina, and he would have loved to play at the Benito Villamarín. But he agreed that the suspension was a sensible idea

Water, water everywhere
NOLITO_BETIS.jpgManuel Agudo 'Nolito' said something similar. "It would have been bad for both teams because we both like to play the ball, the pitch and the stadium are great … But you just had to see the pitch, there was water everywhere … but it doesn’t matter, we’ll come and play some other day. Now we just have to go home and start planning for the game with Valladolid on Saturday".
