Former Barça man José Edmílson, now at Zaragoza, thinks Barça has just as good a chance of winning titles this season. Following the three new signings, he reckons “the philosophy is the same as ever”.
On occasion of the friendly between Barça B and Brazil, José Edmílson came to Barcelona to watch the ‘canarinha’ and commentate on the match for Barça TV. The Brazilian spoke about his national side and also the FCB squad, Guardiola and their title hopes this season.
More motivated
Despite winning so much in the last two seasons, Edmílson does not sense any less hunger among the Barça players. “I am sure Barça will be just as motivated with eight world champions among them. I was very pleased. I spent four vey good years with these people”.
The duel with Madrid
Edmílson predicts that this year “Barça are still favourites along with Madrid”. But he does hope that “the other teams manage to make the league more competitive”, sensing that sides like Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are good enough to pose a decent challenge.
Barça B reflect first team
The Zaragoza star is also impressed with the groundwork being done at Barça. He noticed on Tuesday that in the reserve side “you can see the hand of Pep. They play with widely spaced centre backs, and a goalkeeper who collects the ball well.” He knows these players “need the right mentality about them in case they are needed by the first team, for that way they won’t find it so hard to adapt to their style of play”.
